Robert Schlup has assisted a wide variety of corporate clients in international commercial transactions.
Robert’s main focus is on the hotel and leisure industry and he is extensively engaged in all legal aspects of hotel development, management, financing and acquisition. He represents several leading international hotel chains and numerous hotel owners and developers around the globe. Robert’s expertise includes the structuring and documentation of complex mixed-use projects with hotel and branded residential components and other related areas such as spa or food and beverage operations within hotels and resorts. Robert has published a doctoral thesis on hotel management agreements and has served as a visiting professor in the Master in Hospitality Administration program at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.
Robert joined the founding partner of the firm, Dr. Heinz Bloch (†), in 1996 and has become a partner in the firm in 2000. In 2008 Bloch & Partner merged into the predecessor firm of Dentons, today the largest law firm in the world, and between then and 2011 he acted as Managing Partner of the Zurich office of Dentons, which was restructured in 2011 to become Bloch & Partner again. He has received his law degrees from the Universities of Berne and Basle (Switzerland) and is a member of the Swiss bar. As an associate in a major New York law firm, he gained valuable experience in various matters of international corporate law.
Robert is a board member of several companies and is experienced as an entrepreneur and executive of small and medium sized companies.
